It’s time to finish up the year… and I’m sharing with you, the prompts for the end of the year, as promised. Thank you so much to each of you that have journeyed with me this last year! It has been a fun time, and I appreciate your patience with me after my losses, and lack of will to continue. I have decided that I will still be hosting a prompt system of sorts, but I would like to change the tone, and activity of our prompts, so I will be posting more about that soon. In the mean time, here is the collection of prompts from October to now, so that you can finish out your journaling year if you’d like!

OCTOBER

15th

Modus Operandi: Two Sides to Every Story

SHOOTERS: Shoot your mug with a description of a time when you could see both sides of a story.

SKETCH ARTISTS: Draw a Mugshot self portrait: One of yourself head one, and one from the side.

Family dynamics & patterns. Need I say more? This prompt made me think of my ongoing relationship with my sister & niece. Life has more than 2 sides, of course! And I often find myself pointing that out to them and myself. For this piece I had some fun with different photographic effects on the same photo…metaphorically showing how one person can have many ‘colored’ views. Then I just added text with paints & pens, finishing it all off with a clear acrylic glaze.

30th

Modus Operandi: Twisted Tales

SHOOTERS: Shoot your mug with a description of a wild imaginary crime scene.

SKETCH ARTISTS: This week’s prompt is inspired by Edgar Allen Poe. Take a look at some fan art, and create a portrait inspired by what you find. CLICK HERE

NOVEMBER

15th

Modus Operandi: Caged Animal

SHOOTERS: Shoot your mug with a description of a moment when you had felt weighed down or caught, and then suddenly became free.

SKETCH ARTISTS: Create a portrait using a cage as some part of the human form.

30th

Modus Operandi: She Wore a Mask

SHOOTERS: Shoot your mug with a description of something that did not appear at first to be the way that it really was.

SKETCH ARTISTS: Draw a face with no features other than eyes, nose and mouth… cover the rest of the page with stencils and masks.

DECEMBER

15th

Modus Operandi: You Had an Angel on Watching Out For You!

SHOOTERS: Shoot your mug with a description of a time you had someone looking out for you.

SKETCH ARTISTS: Paint an angel

30th

Modus Operandi: Barely Scratched the Surface

SHOOTERS: Shooters shoot your mug with a description of something you have just barely started.

SKETCH ARTISTS: Paint your page black. Then use white paint over that leaving dark spots for the eyes and mouth of your face. Then scratch the white, to reveal the black beneath for the rest of the detail.

NOW IT’S YOUR TURN!!

THE RULES:

  • Use all or just part of the prompts.
  • MAKE THEM YOURS. These prompts are IDEAS. They are not set in stone. I encourage you to stretch yourself. If you find a prompt doesn’t speak to you, think on it. Find a way to MAKE it speak to you, and go with that.
  • SHOOTERS: You do NOT have to be a coffee drinker to play along! Tea, Water, Beer or the Hard Stuff. WE DON’T CARE!! Make the prompts work for you and your mug. (or lack there of)
  • There is NO right or wrong.
  • Share your feedback on the work of others that share here positively. ABSOLUTELY no judging of another person’s work. (If I find that people aren’t following this rule, I will remove links left by that person.)
  • This is a place for you to explore! It doesn’t matter if you’ve just gotten here in the middle of the year, or if you’ve gotten “behind” and don’t create every day. It doesn’t matter if you don’t create at ALL… (although we’d love it if you do)
  • Add your link to what you book or shoot in the comments section of the posts here on the blog, that you create for! Be sure to add a DIRECT LINK. (you can get this most times by clicking on the title of your post, and then copying the URL.) General links to websites will be deleted (because they make it hard for people to follow behind and find the post pertaining to this prompt) ALSO, links leading to posts that do not make it clear how they are related to the prompts will be removed.
